Best of the Best

December 27, 2013

Did you know???   Earlier this year, the National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) presented the Outstanding Service Award in Mental Health Response to Roberta “Robby” Lapp, OUR Clinical Director!  The honor came at the 29th National Symposium on Child Abuse in Huntsville, Alabama. Roberta+Lapp

Approximately 1,000 child abuse professionals from 46 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, Brazil, Jamaica, Sweden, and China participated in educational sessions on law enforcement, legal, medical, mental health, victim advocacy, forensic interviewing, prevention, child protective services, and administrative best practices.

Robby received the prestigious award at the Symposium’s annual awards luncheon. The criteria for the Outstanding Service Awards is based on the pioneering work that began with the formation of the National Children’s Advocacy Center in 1985 and revolutionized the way America responds to child sexual abuse.  The honors are intended to recognize professionals who have made a significant positive contribution to services that address child abuse and exploitation in their communities.  In recognizing the honorees, NCAC Executive Director Chris Newlin noted that Robby understands that while it can be difficult to coordinate all the moving pieces of child sexual abuse investigations, she believes in the value of the CAC model and that it provides the best possible outcome for the children and families involved.

Robby works tirelessly to serve the children and families of our community and her determination and passion to help children is demonstrated daily to those who come into contact with her.  She also provides presentations to community partners on the critical work of our Children’s Advocacy Center and Multidisciplinary Team. She strives to educate the community, students, and other professionals about the ever-changing information and practices in the field of child abuse.

Thank you, Robby, for ALL that you do and we are very proud to have you a part of our team!
